What each Asian handicap line means

The result of your bet for each line, by how the backed team does. Quarter lines split the stake across the two neighbouring half-goal lines, which is where half wins and half losses come from.

Worked example: -0.75 at 1.90

£10 on your team at -0.75 puts £5 on -0.5 and £5 on -1. They win 2-1, a one-goal win. The -0.5 half wins (£5 × 1.90 = £9.50) and the -1 half is a tie, so that £5 comes back. Total return £14.50, a half win. Had they won by two, both halves would win for £19; a draw or a defeat loses the full £10.

What does Asian handicap -0.25 mean?
Half your stake goes on 0 (draw no bet) and half on -0.5. If your team wins, both halves win. If it’s a draw, the 0 half is refunded and the -0.5 half loses, so you get half your stake back. If your team loses, both halves lose.
What does Asian handicap -0.75 mean?
Half your stake goes on -0.5 and half on -1. Win by two or more and both halves win. Win by exactly one and the -0.5 half wins while the -1 half is refunded: a half win. A draw or a defeat loses both halves. £10 at 1.90 that wins by one returns £14.50.
What does Asian handicap +0.25 mean?
Half your stake goes on 0 and half on +0.5. If your team wins, both halves win. A draw refunds the 0 half and wins the +0.5 half: a half win. A defeat loses both halves.
What does a split line like 0, -0.5 mean?
It is the same as -0.25 written as its two halves. Some bookmakers show quarter lines this way: 0, -0.5 is -0.25; -0.5, -1 is -0.75; 0, +0.5 is +0.25. The calculator accepts either form.
What is a push in Asian handicap betting?
A push is a tie on the handicap: your stake is returned. It happens on whole-number lines, for example -1 when your team wins by exactly one, or 0 when the game is drawn.
How does an in-play Asian handicap work?
In-play Asian handicaps usually count only the goals scored after you bet: the score is treated as 0-0 from that moment. bet365 publishes this rule for its in-play Asian lines. Tick “I bet in-play” in the calculator and enter the score when you placed the bet. Check your own bookmaker’s terms.
How do Asian handicaps work in an accumulator?
Each leg becomes a multiplier: a win counts at its odds, a half win at (odds + 1) ÷ 2, a push at 1, and a half loss at 0.5. A £10 double with one leg winning at 1.90 and one half-winning at 2.00 returns £10 × 1.90 × 1.50 = £28.50. Use the Accumulator tab.
What is the difference between Asian and European handicaps?
A European handicap is a three-way bet: the handicap result can be a win, a draw or a loss, and there are no refunds. An Asian handicap removes the draw, either with half-goal lines (which can’t tie) or by refunding the stake on a tie.
